Running a website – All full up!

On 21st May, I ran a presentation on how to run a website. I only had space for an audience of 20, but I had over 45 people interested in attending! I filled up the 20 spaces I had available in just 3 days of advertising the event. Therefore I’m running the presentation again on 18th June. However, much to my surprise, the 2nd presentation was filled to capacity in just 12 hours of advertising it!
Suffice to say, I’ll probably be running the presentation again in the near future. If you are interested in attending one of my presentations (which will usually be near Southampton or Winchester in Hampshire), do let me know your ideas for topics.

Hi Dan, I’d be interested in coming along to your next presentation, I’m only over in East Sussex so not very far for me!
As for ideals for topics, I’d love to hear your views on SEO myths and facts, there is so much conflicting information on the internet its hard to whats crap and whats sound advice.
It would be good to know if you think it is best to code your site from scratch or wheather you think it is wise to use a template site. Do search engines take note of the code itself or just the content?
Anyway, I’ll keep checking back for your next presentation.

Thanks for the feedback. My presentations are currently at a much higher level, so cover the basics of running a site rather than detailed SEO advice. For that kind of detail, you might be better off with proper SEO conventions like Think Visibility.
With regards to code… search engines only care about the content. They don’t ’see’ javascript or code like PHP. Therefore use structured HTML (header tags, tables, images with alt text, etc) in the way it should be used. Then get your code to work around it.
From a business point of view, don’t waste time doing something from scratch where you can use existing code/templates/plugins/libraries to save time.
The sooner your site is finished, the quicker you can start making money from it!
