WP Portfolio

WP Portfolio Introduction

If you’re a web designer, search engine optimiser, etc, then you probably have a collection of websites that you’ve worked on. Or perhaps you’re like me, and you have a portfolio of websites that you’ve created and want to show off. Well WP Portfolio is designed to make it really easy to showcase your work by creating a list of websites along with descriptions and automatically generated thumbnails.

You can create a list of your websites in the admin section of Wordpress. You can add a description of your site too. The plugin will then automatically create thumbnails for you in one of 3 different sizes (that you choose). You can also divide your sites up into logical groups too.

You can see WP Portfolio in action on my very own portfolio page.

You can download this plugin directly from the WP Portfolio on Wordpress.org Plugin Database.

Possible Future Features

These are a list of features that have been requested that I am considering adding to WP Portfolio in the future. I add all features as soon as I can, but I am very busy. If you would like to pay a small fee (via Paypal), I would be happy to make the new feature my top priority.

  • Sidebar widget with custom template option.
  • Allow custom thumbnail to be shown as original size rather than resized.

A Big Thank You!

Thank you to the following individuals who have paid for features to be implemented into WP Portfolio. These are individuals who wanted featured implemented sooner rather than later and were happy to make a small donation in return for those features being implemented quickly.

Brad Nix of Real Estate Technology Conference & Expo
Sponsored Feature: Custom Thumbnails to override screenshots.
George Serradinho of Serradinho
Sponsored Feature: PHP bindings to show WP Portfolio from code.
James Nimon of JNimon Web Design
Sponsored Feature: Ordering of Websites within a portfolio.
Ronnie Chatterjee of Evolution in DesignZ
Sponsored Feature: Paging support (websites over several pages).

Please consider a donation?

I’ve worked really hard on this Wordpress plugin. To help encourage me to release more free plugins, please consider making a small donation.

Tada ! Quick Apache hack to change my site’s conf, web server restarted, and the plugin works fine. (Well I get to the options page so I’m confident from there).
Useful note I guess : Plesk users should remove the directory restriction to use your plugin.

Hi Denis. Thanks for the feedback. I’ll add it to the FAQ.

Hi Dan! the language of my site is russian utf-8 and all information I insert transforms then to question signs (?????). I’ve changed manually in DB this “wp_WPPortfolio_groups” and this “wp_WPPortfolio_websites” but it doesnt help. Can you help me to solve the problem. Just in case -i’m using WordPress 2.9.1.

  • Dan Harrison says:

    Hi Vladimir,

I had not planned to add international character support, but I could. As explained regarding my fees above, to implement Russian UTF-8 (and support for other international languages), it would cost £150 (due to the amount of time making changes and getting fixes to work). I would probably need your help to verify the changes I make too. Please contact me if you are interested in me doing the work as a sponsored feature.

    Kind Regards
    Dan

Hi, I used your plugin this afternoon and when I add a website, appear this:

“Warning: curl_setopt() [function.curl-setopt]: CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION cannot be activated when in safe_mode or an open_basedir is set in /home/mastersm/public_html/2010/wp-content/plugins/wp-portfolio/wp-portfolio.php on line 2433″

I don’t know how to fix it :(

  • Dan Harrison says:

In the options, try using fopen. I get the feeling that might not work either, as you have safemode enabled on your server. WP Portfolio is not compatible with safemode. I’ll add that to the FAQ in time.

    Hi Dan,

Nice plugin you got here,Dan. I would like to ask you about the description words in this plugin. Can I add some descriptions with space between each sentences since I just want to outline some important features from the website.

    *description 1
    (space)
    *description 2
    (space)
    *description 3

    thanks for your help

  • Dan Harrison says:

Hi Tony, thanks for your feedback. You can use HTML in the description section. So just use UL and LI to create a bulletted list.

    Harry:
Can you make it to work with Wordpress MU ( if possible you can design this plugin for Buddypress )

  • Dan Harrison says:

    Hi Sakthi

My client workload is very high, so the only way I’d be able to implement it is if I charged a fee. Please let me know if this is still of interest.

    Regards
    Dan
